Employee Feature - Ivory Thompson

Born and raised in Fort Erie, Ivory Thompson has always valued the close-knit community she calls home. With family and friends nearby, she knows just how important meaningful connections are - something that carries over into her role at Erion Insurance Group.

As one of the friendly faces on Erion's reception team, Ivory enjoys helping people and making them feel welcome. After being encouraged to join Erion by several brokers she met through her previous workplace, she's excited to be part of a supportive team and hopes to one day become an insurance broker herself.

Whether she's trying a new recipe, hosting friends and family for dinner, or catching up over coffee at a favourite local spot, Ivory loves bringing people together. We're happy to have her on the Erion team and excited to share a little more about her below!

Tell us a little about yourself.

I grew up in Fort Erie, and my family has lived here my whole life. I love the area! I've been married to my wonderful husband for eight years, and we're fortunate to have so many of our family members and friends close by. We both come from big families, so there's always someone around!

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A marine biologist! I've always loved the ocean.

How did you land in insurance?

At my previous workplace, I met quite a few brokers who worked at Erion. They encouraged me to apply, and even though I was nervous, they were incredibly supportive. I also really enjoy helping people, which is such a big part of what we do here. It's been amazing so far!

How would you describe your job to a second grader?

I answer phones and type on the computer!

How do you take your coffee?

With just a little bit of milk.

What is your favourite pastime?

Spending time with family and friends. It makes my heart feel so full!

Do you have any hobbies or hidden talents?

Definitely cooking! I love trying new recipes and having people taste what I've made. Having friends and family over for a good meal is one of my favourite things.

What is your favourite hangout spot in Niagara?

I really like 416 Coffee Co. It's a great place to meet up with a friend or enjoy a good book.
