Supporting Team Denmark: A Family Tradition and a Community Effort

At Erion Insurance, we believe in the power of community - and sometimes that community stretches all the way across the Atlantic. That’s why we’re so proud to support Team Denmark, a unique youth hockey exchange that has been building lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories for over 30 years.

A Tradition That Hits Close to Home

Fort Erie Minor Hockey’s Team Denmark exchange gives young athletes the opportunity to experience more than just great hockey. This December, a group of Canadian players will travel to Vojens, Denmark, where they’ll stay with local families, immerse themselves in Danish culture, and of course, hit the ice with their new teammates. In 2026, it’ll be our turn to host Danish players right here in Niagara.

For our President, Scott Maskell, this program is especially close to his heart. Scott was part of the very first Team Denmark exchange, and now his son, James, will continue the tradition as he prepares to travel abroad with this year’s team. It’s a full-circle moment that reminds us how powerful these experiences can be - not just for players, but for families and communities too.

Supporting the Team, One Swing at a Time

Team Denmark recently held a golf tournament to help raise funds for the upcoming trip - and we were thrilled to be part of it as a hole sponsor. A few members of our Erion team also took to the course for a round of golf in support of the players.
